I feel very honered that the board of the International Music + Media Centre (IMZ) has asked me to join their newly established Ambassador programme. In my capacity as the CEO of the Herbert von Karajan Estate I look forward to furthering the goals of this important industry body for classical music.

The IMZ is the world’s biggested market place for music film productions. Its establishment goes back to 1950s when the European TV market was slowly developing. This was about the time when Herbert von Karajan was forming a joint venture with German film magnate Leo Kirch. Karajan’s vision was to develop new forms of bringing music into cinemas and homes of consumers. To accelerate the impact of the early classical music productions Karajan was very supportive of the idea for a society of producers and broadcasters that would meet once a year to trade their newest productions. Later, Herbert von Karajan would become a honorary member of the IMZ.

Today the IMZ is a corner stone of the global media industry for music and serves not only producers and broadcasters but also festivals, artists, and internet companies.

I look forward to serve as an ambassador, reaching out to potential new members amongst the numerous startups and tech companies that I meet every month.
